Learn to Play Hockey Instructional Program
2018-19 Season

This is an intro to hockey program and is intended for players 4 to 9 years of age (birth dates in 2009 - 2014)

Players require basic skating ability prior to enrollment in order to get the most benefit from this Learn to Play Hockey program. At a minimum, player should be able to forward skate (unassisted) and perform a snowplow stop. If the player is unable to perform basic skating skills, please register for our Learn to Skate program.


  • The season runs September 8 through April 27 and is divided into sessions consisting of seven skates. There will be no skates on 11/24, 12/22, 12/29, 2/2, 3/30 or 4/6.
  • Each session is $85*.
  • On-ice skill development Saturdays 2:00pm-2:50pm.
  • All sessions held at the Plymouth Cultural Center (525 Farmer, Plymouth).


    • Session #350100-01 skates September 8 through October 20
    • Session #350100-03 skates October 27 through December 15 (no skate on Nov 24)
    • Session #350100-05 skates January 5 through Feb 23 (no skate on Feb 2)
    • Session #350100-07 skates March 2 through April 27 (no skates March 30 or April 6)

*USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for the 2018-19 playing season. USA Hockey is the governing body of youth hockey. Registration is free to children 6 & Under. There is a $45 fee for children 7 & Older that is in addition to the program fee. Register at by the first skate and forward the confirmation email to [email protected].

FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED and includes athletic supporter with cup (boys) or pelvis protector (girls), shin guards, hockey socks, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, jersey, unexpired hockey helmet with full face guard, neck guard, gloves, skates and ice hockey stick. A limited number of gear sets are available to borrow from the Recreation Department for use during the program and can be reserved on-line when registering.

PLEASE NOTE: To cancel a registration and request a refund, the request must be made at least 14 days before the start of the session. We are unable to issue credit or offer make-up skates for missed dates.
