Published on Apr 5, 2022 19:08

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation presented a Redevelopment Ready Community essentials award to the City of Plymouth at the April 4 City Commission meeting held at Plymouth City Hall. The essentials award is a significant step toward full certification. The City has been working for more than five years on the certification process that will help streamline planning processes and procedures and make the City eligible for additional funding to aid future development.

The City Commission authorized the renewal of the Cross Connection Control Program with Hydro Corp of Troy. The program helps to ensure the public health, safety, and welfare of the public water supply in the City.

The City Commission authorized the emergency purchase of an Airless Athletic Field Painter. The City had contracted out field painting services in previous years, but the company the City contracted with ceased operation in early 2022. The emergency purchase will allow field painting to be done by the City's Recreation Department staff.

The following events were approved by the City Commission: Recreation Department Soccer and T-Ball Practices April through October, Wednesday Night Workouts in Kellogg Park on Wednesdays Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Michigan Philharmonic Pops Concert in Kellogg Park on June 7, and the Michigan Philharmonic "An American Salute" Concert in Kellogg Park on June 25.

Other items of note from Monday's meeting include approval of the purchase of road salt for the 2022-23 winter season, approval of a good neighbor builder code of conduct, and the required presentation of the 2022-23 proposed budget. The first of a potential three budget study sessions is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 12 at 5 p.m. at Plymouth City Hall.
