City Commission Meeting Summary - October 4
Published on Oct 5, 2021 19:08

The Plymouth City Commission accepted the resignation of Commissioner Ed Krol at its Monday, October 5 regular meeting held at Plymouth City Hall. Commissioner Krol offered his resignation due to health issues. Krol has served the community on both the City Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals. The Commission will not be required to fill the vacancy by appointment as the resignation comes within 30 days of an election.

The City Commission approved a three-year contract with Carlisle Wortman for professional planning services. Carlisle Wortman has been the City's long time planner and has additionally helped with special projects including the Saxton's project, the DDA strategic plan and more. The new contract begins in July of 2022.

The City Commission approved the emergency rental of a chiller unit at the Plymouth Cultural Center. During the installation of the ice back in August, crews discovered problems with two pumps in the geothermal unit. Due to anticipated delays in fixing the pumps, the best short term solution was to rent the chiller. The chiller rental allowed for the completion of the installation of the ice surface for scheduled recreational activities.

Other items of note from Monday's meeting included the acceptance of the City administration's report related to the City's Equipment Fund, the authorization of a new contract between the City and Police Command Officer union, and the approval of three events; the Old Village Halloween Block Party on October 24, the Holiday Greens Market in the Gathering on November 27, and the Walk of Trees in Kellogg Park from November 19 through January 3.
